Pixel Software and Tencent Unveil Interstellar Utopia, a New Sci-Fi Sandbox MMORPG

Follow Humanity’s Last Exodus in Interstellar Utopia

Veteran Chinese developer Pixel Software has teamed up with Tencent to announce Interstellar Utopia, a massive open-world sandbox MMORPG set in a strikingly original sci-fi universe. Blending starships, cyborgs, exploration, and resource gathering, the game aims to deliver a new frontier for players to immerse themselves in when it launches in 2026.

Attendees at gamescom are getting an early taste of what’s to come through a starship-inspired booth. Visitors can explore themed displays, meet larger-than-life cybernetic characters, and grab exclusive merchandise. Playable demo stations give fans the chance to step into the game’s boundless world years ahead of release. The highlight is the “Mind Upload Terminal,” an installation inspired by the game’s Neural Upload Station, where players can see their consciousness digitized into a cyborg form, echoing the game’s core message: Everything Can Be Cyberized.

Set more than 400 years in the future, Interstellar Utopia begins with humanity’s survival as digital consciousnesses following an alien invasion that forced Earth’s final evacuation. Now scattered across the galaxy, civilizations with unique histories and cultures offer countless new worlds to explore.

The game features seamless maps without loading screens, multiple cyborg races with distinct traits, customizable technology, and interstellar travel. Players will wield mechs, spacecraft, and futuristic weapons, while shaping planets through building and terraforming. With no fixed progression path, freedom of play lies at the heart of the experience.

“At the heart of Interstellar Utopia’s design lies one core principle: putting players in control,” said Kun Liu, Producer at Pixel Software. “Will you be a lone gunslinger piloting a mech across the stars? A trader forging alliances to monopolize the galactic tech tree? A pioneer terraforming barren worlds into thriving multi-species colonies? Or a warlord igniting faction wars on the fringes of known space? Every choice matters, with players shaping unique civilizations. That’s why we included “Utopia” in the title: it’s a promise of infinite possibilities, everywhere.”
