Wishlist OOLO Right Now
Ben Brooks, the solo developer at Riddle Master Productions, has announced that OOLO is scheduled to launch on Steam in Q3 2025. Inspired by classics like Solstice and Equinox for the NES, OOLO blends nostalgic design with modern charm, offering a combat-free experience focused on exploration and clever puzzle-solving.
Set in a sprawling world of over 500 interconnected rooms, OOLO invites players to uncover secrets and solve intricate challenges. All while collecting eight unique artifacts that unlock new ways to traverse the environment. From gloomy forests to cryptic ruins and dangerous swamps, each of the ten biomes offers fresh visuals and mechanics.
The game features three distinct modes tailored to different playstyles. Casual offers unlimited lives for relaxed exploration. Classic brings a more traditional challenge with limited lives and save points. For those seeking a true retro test, Retro mode removes saves entirely. If you lose your lives in this mode, you will have to start all over.
With its charming voxel art style and an emphasis on discovery over combat, OOLO aims to recapture a feeling that has been rare in modern games. Ben Brooks also mentioned that he wanted more games like Solstice, and figured others did too, so he made one himself.
A playable demo is available now, and OOLO is open for wishlisting on Steam. For fans of puzzle-rich adventures with a nostalgic edge, this might be one to watch.
