After a brief five-second appearance at last week’s Nintendo Direct, some fans worried that the game would only launch on the upcoming Switch 2. Fortunately, that is not the case. Nintendo Switch owners can relax knowing the game will still run on the older console, proving that even after eight years, it has enough power to handle fast-paced action.
Team Cherry originally planned Silksong as downloadable content for Hollow Knight, but the project quickly grew beyond its initial scope. Seeing its potential, the developers decided to make it a full sequel, allowing them to expand the world and gameplay in ways that an add-on could not. They announced the game in 2019, which explains its compatibility with both current and older consoles.
The game is set to launch in 2025 and will be available on Linux, macOS, Windows, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and S.
