Top 5 Video Games Arriving in October 2024
October 2024 is the best month for video game releases in as long as I can remember! We have to have 3 runners-up this month, all of which would have easily been in the Top 5 any other month. Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred is a massive expansion for Diablo IV. It’s only a runner-up because it’s DLC, and there’s too many major full games. Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is a new Dragon Ball fighting game that’s the spiritual successor to the Budokai series. And Super Mario Party Jamboree is the newest Super Mario multiplayer board game. With those out of the way, here are the Top 5 Video Games Arriving in October 2024:
5. Ys X: Nordics – October 25
The Ys series has been growing in popularity since Ys VIII, which is arguably the most beloved action JRPG of the last console generation. Ys X was released in Japan in September 2023. Fans have been patiently waiting for a North American release since then, and it’s almost here! Ys X is going to a Viking-inspired region, and will bring naval combat to the Ys series for the first time. The story takes place early in protagonist Adol’s adventures, after Ys II. Ys X: Nordics will be available for everything except Xbox.
4. Dragon Age: The Veilguard – October 31
Dragon Age: The Veilguard was only recently announced, but it’s already coming out on Halloween! The game has actually been in development since 2015, but Bioware has had some struggles since then. Hopefully the lengthy development means that Dragon Age: The Veilguard took the time it needed to be a quality game, and isn’t a band-aided mess. It would be higher on the Top 5 Video Games Arriving in October 2024 if Bioware’s more recent games had the same pedigree as past classics. Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
