Turtle Beach Kone II Air Mouse Review – Predictably Fantastic

Turtle Beach Kone II Air Mouse Review

Turtle Beach has been on an impressive run in recent years and has really solidified its reputation in the gaming peripheral market. The Kone II Air Mouse keeps that streak going and is yet another testament to the company’s commitment to delivering premium products for gamers. Having been an avid user of Turtle Beach and Roccat products for years, I was eager to try the Kone II Air – and it is no surprise that it did not disappoint. With a sleek, ergonomic design, a slew of customization options, and top-of-the-line tech, the Kone II Air sets a high bar for performance and functionality.

At first glance, you can tell the Kone II Air was designed for comfort and for folks with bigger mitts. Its ergonomic shape seems to cater specifically to medium and larger hand sizes. The mouse feels natural and comfortable in my hand. Over long gaming sessions, I experienced no strain or discomfort. This speaks to that comfortable and well-thought-out design. It’s a heavier mouse than I am used to but it still feels like it has the right balance between weight and shape. It’s a sturdy mouse but also quite nimble.

The mouse also includes heat-treated PTFE glides which makes for smooth movement across various surfaces. As I write this, I currently have my mouse on the couch and it’s super smooth gliding on this less-than-ideal surface. This feature, combined with its build, offers fluid, precise mouse movements, which is obviously what we are after when gaming. During some of those more intense gaming sessions, I noticed how easily the Kone II Air glided across my desk. It feels good, super responsive and natural in my hand.

I also appreciate its dual connectivity. Offering both a 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth dual connectivity, with the simple flick of a switch it gives folks the freedom to switch between multiple devices. The battery life is equally impressive. With up to 350 hours of battery life in Bluetooth mode and 130 hours with the 2.4GHz wireless connection, this mouse has serious juice. Over the course of the past couple of weeks (which included using the mouse in Washington DC at Call of Duty NEXT), I found myself rarely needing to charge the mouse. It was so nice not having to worry about charging a mouse all the time.

When it does need charging, the PhantomFlex braided charging cable ensures you can keep gaming without delay. The cable is lightweight and flexible, making it feel as if the mouse is still in wireless mode, even when plugged in.

Turtle Beach and previously Roccat have always prioritized precision, and it shows with the Kone II Air. With its 26k DPI optical sensor and the ability to handle speeds of up to 650 IPS (16.5m/s), this mouse is pinpoint accurate and amazingly responsive. Whether you’re navigating fast-paced first-person shooters like COD or executing precise movements in your favorite punishing souls-like game, the Kone II Air delivers exceptional control.

Each click of the mouse is quick and responsive. Again it’s not much of a surprise as it was been that way for years with the company’s line of mice. Those pre-tensioned buttons deliver fast, satisfying clicks. The TITAN Switch Optical, with its tactile feedback and optical speed, also adds to the overall responsiveness of the mouse. Turtle Beach says the switches have been tested for up to 100 million clicks, so this mouse is built to last. It just remains to be seen if the mouse can handle a spill or two on the floor. Many of my mice have fallen victim to this and didn’t last much longer after.

One area where the Kone II Air stands out is in its customization options. With a multi-button design that supports 21 programmable functions, the mouse can be adapted to fit virtually any gaming style. Whether you’re setting up your macros for an MMORPG or reassigning buttons for your favorite battle royale game, the Kone II Air provides all the versatility you need.

Even the 4D free-spin scroll wheel featuring slick RGB lighting is another notable feature. Its tilt functionality adds an extra layer of control. This is ideal for navigating long documents or scrolling webpages. It’s subtle and barely noticeable but it adds to the overall user experience, and most importantly, the scroll wheel performed flawlessly. Not to mention it is smooth and reliable during my playtime with it.

It’s also a pretty badass-looking mouse. The Kone II Air looks sharp with the dual-zone programmable RGB illumination. It is fully customizable too. The shell has translucent stripes down the sites which lets the lighting shine through beautifully. It looks great without it being too overwhelming or over-the-top.

The Turtle Beach Kone II Air is a rock-solid gaming mouse that continues the brand’s streak of delivering gaming peripherals that impress us. Its ergonomic design, incredible battery life, and precision make it an ideal choice for PC gamers looking to up their mouse game. While the price tag might be a little on the higher end compared to other mice on the market, the Kone II Air’s build quality, performance, and versatility make it a worthwhile investment. Turtle Beach’s latest Kone mouse excels in every area.
