Call of Duty Warzone: Caldera Officially Shuts Down In September

Call of Duty is the biggest FPS franchise in the world. In 2020, Activision-Blizzard released Call of Duty: Warzone, a battle royale based in the popular world where players fight for their survival against others. Shortly thereafter, players left Verdansk for Caldera, a new map set in the Pacific with mountains and greenery. With the release of Warzone 2, Activision-Blizzard has announced that Caldera will be shut down from September 21st. Interested players can jump into Call of Duty: Warzone 2 today for free.

Via its official Twitter, the company stated, As Warzone moves ahead with exciting new experiences to come, Warzone Caldera will shut down on Sept 21. All Caldera gameplay, player progression, inventories and online services will expire on that date.” Furthermore, while the decision to close is not a surprise, fans were disappointed to hear that inventories would expire on that day as well. Therefore, players that spent money on the game for skins and weapons would lose that content. Also, the decision to close Caldera signals the end of Warzone, an era that lasted for two years during the height of the pandemic.

Moreover, players can jump into the brand new experience of Warzone 2, where they can enjoy the new map, Vondel. Additionally, players can enjoy other new features in the game such as Ranked Mode, where they grind from Bronze to the Top 250 players in the world.
