Indiana Jones Game Will Now Be Exclusive To Xbox Consoles

In 2021, MachineGames and Bethesda Softworks announced that they were working on an adventure game, Indiana Jones. Suffice to say, the announcement was well-received by the gaming community as the movies are extremely popular and there is a lot of potential. Today, Pete Hines, during a questioning session, announced that the game will be exclusive to Xbox consoles on release.

Currently, Microsoft and the Federal Trade Commission are engaged in serious litigation relative to the hotly contested acquisition of Activision-Blizzard by Microsoft. As a result, Pete Hines, Bethesda Softworks’ Vice President faced questioning on issues relating to Microsoft. During the questioning, he revealed that the game will release on Xbox consoles exclusively. Unfortunately, this runs counter to the original deal with Disney, as the game was supposed to release on multiple consoles.

Thus, the initial deal between the parties was amended after Microsoft acquired Zenimax, Bethesda Softworks’ parent company. Therefore, one concern of the potential takeover of Activision-Blizzard may be exclusivity to Microsoft products of the wide range of games that the company creates, such as Overwatch, Call of Duty and Diablo. However, it is unlikely that Microsoft, even if successful in the takeover, would remove these games from PlayStation consoles, as it would run counter to good practice, the spirit of the gaming community and profits across the board. The takeover of Activision-Blizzard is an interesting development in the gaming world, and more news may stem from the questioning.
