Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Video Review
Pretty much every RPG has roots that can be found in Dungeons & Dragons. From Fantasy RPGs like Diablo to Post-apocalyptic Looter Shooters like Borderlands, there is something you can thank DnD for. It all comes full circle with Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.
Borderlands fans no doubt remember Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep DLC. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is just like that, but a full game. A classic high-fantasy campaign, injected with 50 CCs of Borderlands-style humor and havoc.
There are some fundamental changes made from the Borderlands series. Those games were all about guns and bullets. Though those things are still in play, there is also the fantasy elements, such as magic, medieval weapons, and fairytale creatures. There are also some improvements, such as more starting classes and eventual mixing of classes.
The art style of Borderlands is something else that is carried over into Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. The cell-shaded visuals have always been appropriate for the over-the-top action of that series and seems even more so with the high-fantasy tone of Wonderlands. Many of the areas are steeped in dark, drab color palettes, but are perfectly juxtaposed with the colorful imagination of Tina, both literally and figuratively.
Though there are clear connections to the Borderlands series, players who are new to this type of game will feel just as comfortable in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands as veteran Vault Hunters.
