Diablo 2 Remaster to Be Available to All Players This Weekend
Starting today, the Diablo II: Resurrected Open Beta is now live for an early access weekend to all players on the Windows, Xbox, and Playstation platforms. Previously, the beta was only available for those who got lucky with Twitch drops or those who preordered either the Diablo II: Resurrected or the Diablo Prime Evil Collection.
The open beta opens up approximately a month before the official game launch for all platforms on September 23rd. Since the early access launch is online-only, players will be unable to import any local offline save files from their original Diablo 2 games. Although there are only five playable classes in this beta, excluding the Assassin and Necromancer, Blizzard has confirmed that seven playable classes will be available at launch. The beta will also only focus on the first two acts of the game.
One major multiplayer change to Diablo 2 is the removal of TCP/IP support. This means that players will have to play through official Blizzard servers rather than with friends. This disables some of the support for less popular mod servers or modding your multiplayer experience. Moreover, it also forces you to run Blizzard’s anti-cheat when playing multiplayer.
The open-access beta is unavailable for the Switch, but will be kept up to date with other platforms once launched. Controllers are supported in beta, but are currently being improved based on feedback from players. Diablo 2 Resurrected will feature enhanced accessibility, UI, and QoL features. Diablo 2 Resurrected is currently available for $40 for preorder, as well as in the Prime Evil Collection, which also includes the Diablo 3: Eternal Collection with some extra goodies.
