Are You Feeling It Now?
Over the past few years, it seems everyone has wanted a slice of the fighting game pie. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s massive success has got game developers all looking to generate the same hype that surrounds every new update and new character announcement. Now, an unexpected contender has stepped into the ring: the iconic kids’ cartoon company Nickelodeon.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a Super Smash Bros.-style fighting game, developed by Ludosity and Fair Play Labs and published by GameMill Entertainment. Rather than the roster of video game characters that Smash Bros. boasts, however, All-Star Brawl will see iconic Nickelodeon characters facing off against each other.
So far, the roster has a good mix of old-school cartoon characters and more recent stars. Confirmed in the announcement are Michelangelo, Leonardo, Powdered Toast Man, SpongeBob SquarePants, Sandy Cheeks, Patrick Star, Oblina, Lucy Loud, Lincoln Loud, Helga, Reptar, Zim and Danny Phantom, with plenty more to be announced!
In addition to characters, there’ll be over 20 stages that represent all your favorite locations from Nickelodeon’s animated history – so far we’ve seen four: SpongeBob’s Jellyfish Fields and The Flying Dutchman, The Technodrome from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Western Air Temple from Avatar: The Last Airbender. With no Avatar characters announced just yet, it’s probably a safe bet that the Western Air Temple’s presence suggests that at least a few fighters from the legendary animated series will be making an appearance.
All-Star Brawl won’t just be a multiplayer experience – there’ll be a single-player mode along with the 4-player local and online multiplayer. Along the way, you’ll be able to unlock new moves for each of the fighters and bonus content to be placed in an in-game gallery.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch in Fall 2021.
