Top 10 FPS Games Releasing in 2021
First-person shooters have been around for generations, and there is almost nothing that feels better than fragging enemies whether human or computer-controlled. With some great FPS titles releasing in recent years, we look ahead to some of the best and most intriguing FPS titles releasing soon.
Resident Evil Village
The Resident Evil series has been on a roll as of late, particularly with their numbered iterations, and Resident Evil Village looks like another hit. The game takes place after the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, and is another first-person entry into the series. While RE7 had a distinct feel to it, Resident Evil Village takes some cues from previous games such as Resident Evil 4’s inventory system as well as “The Merchant”. Resident Evil Village is one of our most anticipated games of 2021, and we look forward to seeing how the RE franchise continues forward.
Atomic Heart
Atomic Heart caught our attention with its stylish announcement trailer, which had some Bioshock-vibes. Beneath the trailer, the game’s plot deserves attention as well. The game takes place in an alternate reality Soviet Union in the 1950s, featuring advanced technology, special agents, and robots. The game itself is an FPS with RPG elements, featuring both firearms and melee weapons, which definitely reminds us of the Bioshock games. Inspirations aside, Atomic Heart looks like a unique experience that we can’t wait to get our hands on.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2
It’s been roughly 10 years since the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games first released, and the next iteration in the series is finally set to release. For reference, the name is an acronym for “Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Loners, Killers, Explorers and Robbers, so going with S.T.A.L.K.E.R is definitely the safe bet. The first game was a cult classic, survival horror-type of game, and we only hope that the latest iteration meets expectations.
Shadow Warrior 3
The Shadow Warrior series has gained prominence in recent years to the point where Shadow Warrior 3 is a relatively anticipated game. Shadow Warrior 3 is a single-player FPS title that features both gunplay as well as melee combat. Perhaps most intriguing about the game is its setting: Neo-Feudal Japan. Players take on the role of a fallen corporate ninja and his sidekick who must defeat an ancient dragon accidentally released. Sure, the plot is just a bit over the top, but that is how we like our Shadow Warrior games.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
The team behind the Warhammer: Vermintide games are at it again, this time with space marines. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is a four-player cooperative shooter that allows players to take on waves of enemies as they progress through levels. While this sounds a bit like the Left 4 Dead games, there is always room for more. The main plot is that a squad of Imperial Guards is investigating a cult on the planet Atoma Prime. Warhammer: Vermintide 2 was a sneaky good game, and we look forward to seeing what developer Fatshark does with the 40k series.
