The Witcher 3 is Making a Comeback
The Netflix series based on the Witcher universe debuted last Friday on the 20th and it is safe to say that most of the fans have fallen in love. While reviews of the show have not been perfect, it is a far cry from any other video game movie or TV show. It definitely stands out as one of the only good video game adaptations to ever exist. It’s a low bar, but it is still impressive none the less. This renewed popularity in the Witcher universe has resulted in a boost in sales of The Witcher 3. A game that was originally released in 2015.
As of the time writing this article, The Witcher 3 has climbed to the 14th most played game on Steam. Which is quite the achievement considering how old the game is, as well as what kind of competition there is on Steam. To put this in perspective, it has surpassed Red Dead Redemption 2 in player count. Not too shabby.
The current player count is around 49,000. That is the highest it has been so far. So expect it to only climb from here. The show has only been out for three days. Chances are that the interest in the Witcher video games are going to only increase as the more people watch the show.
The Witcher 3 itself is a fantastic game. A high point in the series, the third and final Witcher game is by far the most fleshed-out of the trilogy. The sheer amount of things you can do is astounding. It won dozens of games of the year of awards, and that was not by mistake. It really does live up to the hype. If you have never had a chance to play The Witcher 3, go see what all the fuss is about.
