I’m the Bad Guy, Duh
Typically when you play a game, you are the hero. Then there are reversals where you take on another perspective, which is always welcome. Sometimes, the game allows you to play the villain and their story. That is what is going on in this new Cadence of Hyrule DLC. Released quite by surprise, Octavo’s Ode puts you in the shoes of Cadence of Hyrule’s main villain. When the game launched back in June, there were four characters to play as. However, there were five slots for characters, suggesting there would be more.
Octavo’s Ode is part of a free update. The new story DLC is one part and the new Dungeon Mode is the second part. When playing as Octavo, players will be able to use his golden lute to defeat enemies. This DLC will also shed light on his story and motivations in the original game. The new Dungeon Mode is an entirely different monster. Well, not too different. Dungeon Mode is compared to “classic Crypt of the Necrodancer gameplay”, which suggests a rougelike experience.
A free update to #CadenceOfHyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring The Legend of Zelda is available now! Includes Octavo as an unlockable character with his own story, weapon, and skills. Plus, classic Crypt of the Necrodancer gameplay in Dungeon Mode.https://t.co/S6Gh11azJu pic.twitter.com/uoBdJNLozV

Both Octavo’s Ode and Dungeon Mode will be unlocked upon beating the main story. Cadence of Hyrule came out about six months ago in June on Nintendo Switch. You can check out our review of Cadence of Hyrule on our site.
