Switch Beats out Competition to Become the Best-Selling Console on Black Friday
This year’s Black Friday has come and gone and the most popular items of the day have been tallied up. According to analysts at Wedbush Securities despite a ton of deals on a variety of games and consoles the Nintendo Switch was one of the hottest sellers, beating out both the PS4 and Xbox One.
According to the Wedbush Securities analysts the Nintendo Switch sold strongly, likely as a result of both the PS4 and Xbox One aging out. In fact, they said this is “likely a reflection of the competition feeling a bit long-in-the-tooth.” Not hard to imagine that some would want to hold off on buying a PS4 or Xbox One S or X when the PS5 and Scarlett are on the horizon. What is interesting however is that the Switch sold well despite offering the same deal as last year, a $300 USD Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle. No mention if some of the sales were attributed to the Switch Lite as that was also on sale for $200 USD.
And the Switch isn’t the only winner of the day, as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare took the glory as the best-selling video game of the day. This of course is likely due to its drop in price, down to $38 USD. FIFA 20, Madden NFL 20, and NBA 2K20 were also among the hottest selling video games during Black Friday sales.
It will be interesting to see if there are similar results with Cyber Monday when it’s all said and done. What do you think about the Nintendo Switch and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare being at the top? Did you pick either of these items up this Black Friday?
