Nintendo Switch Online’s Subscriber Base Continues to Grow
Months after Nintendo Switch Online launched last September, Nintendo announced in February that its subscriber base had over 8 million accounts. Then, it was announced in April that the number of accounts increased to 9.8 million.
Well, it turns out that the paid service has kept on growing and now has over 10 million accounts, according to a recent Nintendo shareholder Q&A.
“The number of subscribers for Nintendo Switch Online has increased steadily since the service was launched last September, and it has now surpassed 10 million accounts,” Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said during the Q&A.
Furukawa was also asked about Nintendo’s plans for subscription services in the future and he answered, “We believe that we need to further enrich these sorts of services in the future. Nintendo’s policy is that we will consider whether each product we offer is suited to a subscription model as we expand our business in the future.”
