The Top 10 Games Coming to Switch in 2019
So its the end of the year and you’ve probably got at least a handful of new games to play, and why wouldn’t you be excited to spend every waking hour with the latest and greatest games? 2018 knocked it out of the park with some downright phenomenal games, but being the ever intrepid gamer you can’t help but wonder what might be around the corner? Nintendo Switch has had just as great a year as the PlayStation 4 with big reveals, top-shelf games, and sales figures that just won’t stop climbing. As 2018 draws to a close the real question now is: What does 2019 have in store for the Switch? After scouring the internet for every bit of release information we’ve put together a list of the top 10 games to watch for on Nintendo Switch in 2019. PLEASE keep in mind this list will only include games with a confirmed release window of 2019 – sorry Metroid Prime 4 fans!
10. My Friend Pedro
If you somehow forgot this game was on the way then I suppose you could be forgiven. My Friend Pedro is a game difficult to pin down: one part Max Payne, one part Metroid, and one serious part attitude, this a game that is incredibly slick and stylish, to put it mildly. It’s violent, it’s brutal, and it features a sentient banana telling the protagonist what to do. This is not your typical Nintendo game and My Friend Pedro is definitely going to make a splash on the Switch.
Yes, you read that right. Mortal Kombat 11, the game in which all we know is Scorpion and Raiden REALLY don’t like each other, is coming to Switch. The ultra-violent series is now going to be fully mobile with the portability of the hybrid console, and while you could get it on the other consoles in 2019, wouldn’t you love to be able to sit down and rip someone’s head off anywhere you please without getting in trouble? While this might not be the most creative or compelling game next year, its inclusion on the Switch simply cannot be overlooked.
8. Animal Crossing
What more can we really say beyond the title? Very little is known about Animal Crossing making its way to the Switch but it WILL be here and chances are it WILL be incredibly addictive and full of wacky and weird events. This is a title that we have been asking for for a very long time and anticipation for Animal Crossing on home console has been huge. This is the kind of game that will generate huge sales in the long run but it’s best to jump in right at launch.
It seems like ages ago we finished Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 and were immediately awaiting the release of the next game… well, that’s because as of 2019 it will have been 10 years since the previous entry! Finally getting MUA3 still feels like a surreal announcement, like it hasn’t really happened, it’s somehow part of a big joke but no, we are FINALLY getting MUA3 and not only that, it is coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch. This is a huge win for Switch, let’s just hope the game can keep up with the legacy the previous installments set out before it.
6. Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes
Travis Touchdown is finally coming back and we couldn’t be more excited to see him. Originally appearing exclusively on the Wii, Travis made his debut with No More Heroes and legendary writer and director Suda51 is bringing the smart mouthed stylish ego back with the third entry in the No More Heroes series. Coming once again exclusively to the Switch, Travis Strikes Again will see the titular hero hunted down by an assassin named the Badman only for them both to be transported inside a cancelled video game where they must fight each other to collect six “death balls” to be granted one wish. Do we expect anything less from Suda? This is going to be an instant cult-classic and is absolutely dripping with potential.
