Choices Could Matter More In Cyberpunk 2077 Than They Do In Real Life
It sounds like CD Projekt Red is ramping up the ambition for their next projekt, Cyberpunk 2077, including making the game’s sidequests weave into the main storyline.
In an interview with Gamingbolt, level designer Miles Tost said that “Sidequests are great opportunities for us to tell stories of our cyberpunk world. After all, despite not being a part of the main questline, they are still connected to the world and can elaborate on certain parts of it, like the characters. So it’s all interwoven. And yes, that also means that our sidequests could affect the main story.”
Sounds like the team really has their work cut out for them! The past decade has seen quite a focus on player choice and narrative in games, and now we’re finally getting to the next level of that – making decisions outside of the main plot’s binary ones having narrative driven consequences. We’re seeing a glimpse of this in Red Dead Redemption 2 already, where certain quests or cutscenes will play out differently, depending on what order you’ve done things in, and of course, what you’ve done.
The Cyberpunk team also recently opened up about some other details regarding the game’s sidequests and narrative. The game will drop when it’s done for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Let us know what you think in the comments and keep it locked to COGconnected for all the latest gaming news!
