Enter the World of…Healthy Food & Mutated Reptiles?
The Resident Evil 2 remake looks fantastic so far but its reveal trailer gave off the impression that this will be a more serious, less over-the-top Resident Evil game. However, fans shouldn’t worry about RE2 losing its campiness because the tofu man & the massive sewer alligator from the original game are going to be in the remake!
Resident Evil 2 producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirmed to Polygon that the alligator, the tofu man and the mysterious operative Hunk will all be making their return in the upcoming remake.
Hirabayashi said that his team had discussions on whether or not a giant, mutated alligator would fit the tone of the remake but ultimately came to the decision to include it in the game.
“That’s not just applying to the alligator boss,” Hirabayashi explained. “We had to start off with something that doesn’t look like it’s going to fit with how the game looks today, but if you keep having lots of discussions, and get to the crux of what makes each element what it is, you can dig down and find the core idea and find a way to implement that in a new game.”
He also told Polygon that the sentient block of tofu & Hunk won’t be DLC and “will be on the disc”.
Resident Evil 2 is scheduled to come out on January 25, 2019 for the PC, PS4 & Xbox One.
