Jurassic World Pinball
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Jurassic Park, Zen Studios has unleashed a brand new trio of pinball tables for Pinball FX 3. Jurassic World Pinball features two tables inspired by the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies while the third table is a sort of homage to the franchise. Needless to say, these three tables are sure to make any Jurassic Park fan happy. It’s worth noting that both the Jurassic World and Jurassic Park tables include many of the key moments from each movie, albeit in pinball form, so this piece, like the tables, will include spoilers. If you haven’t watched both of these movies, stop reading, go watch both, then come back for some prehistoric pinball action!
The first table is directly inspired by Jurassic World. Front and center of the table is Owen Grady (played by Chris Pratt), riding his motorcycle, alongside his trained raptors. In the top left corner of the table is the awesome Mosasaurus tank, which features a cool visual whenever the pinball rolls along the top. Another cool addition is the inclusion of many audio clips directly ripped from the movie to add even more authenticity to the table. Of course, this also includes the clip of Gray Mitchell whining “I don’t wanna wait anymore”, every damn time you start the table – it’s so bad that it became a bit of a running joke in our household. But don’t let that one bit deter you, this is a well-constructed table with some cool elements and references from the movie.
The second table is directly inspired by the movie that started it all, Jurassic Park. Like the Jurassic World table, this too features audio clips from the actual movie and all the iconic Jurassic Park moments in pinball form. That famous scene with the Raptors in the kitchen – it’s included, complete with a string of metal pots and pans dangling over the table while that particular event is active. The Jurassic Park table features a bunch of different events where the Tyrannosaurus Rex or Raptors will spring to life around the table. It’s a fantastic trip back to that iconic film.
The third and final table is called Jurassic Park Pinball Mayhem. This table is not directly based on a specific movie, but rather takes place after the events of the first movie in which a team of soldiers travel to Isla Nublar to seek out any remaining survivors. A running tally of evacuees will keep you appraised of your progress. The tables highlight, a massive stegosaurus in the center of the table – where a well-placed shot will allow you to control the stegosaurus tail in order to smash balls into windows. Very cool indeed.
Make no mistake, Jurassic World Pinball is a triple dose of Jurassic Park highlights that fans of both pinball and Jurassic Park will love. The Jurassic Park and Jurassic World tables bring their respective movies to life in excellent pinball detail and Jurassic Park Pinball Mayhem is an excellent homage to this iconic franchise.
