NieR Automata Director Yoko Taro is Involved
As revealed by NieR series producer Yosuke Saito, there’s another project underway as we speak. This directly relates to the franchise, but that’s about all we know.
Scratch that. We also know that original creator and eccentric genius Yoko Taro is involved. And it’s definitely no surprise he’s involved since, according to Saito, Taro really likes his money. He was joking of course. Here’s what he had to say when asked if Taro would be involved, as reported by Gematsu:
“He is… I would like to believe (laughs). Yoko says he will do anything as long as he receives money for it, but there is no one who doesn’t move for money as much as that man. He only wants to do what he wants to do. So I’ll try my best to explicitly say what he doesn’t want to do to guide him towards what I want to do (laughs).”
Apparently, this next NieR project also directly relates to the recruiting Square Enix was doing back in September. Taro confirmed that team has found their scenario planner, which suggests that work is moving forward, even if it’s in the early stages.
Yosuke Saito has stated that a “new NieR project” is underway; scenario writer and planner on board. Yoko Taro is still involved.

It sounds to me like we’re getting another PS4/PC NieR title.

Very little was shared. Saito was very humorous about Taro’s involvement; we know that a scenario writer/planner is involved so far.
