First Friday the 13th Gameplay Footage Pits Player against Jason

Face It, If You Survive against Jason, You’re Awesome…

He’s back via Friday the 13th: The Game.

The hockey mask of inevitable death returns in all-new multiplayer gameplay footage. Your task is rather simple(not really): survive. From what the video shows and suggests, there are multiple ways of going about that. But the problem, as revealed with the game, is that Jason is impervious. Talk about immersion. All kinds of basic objects can be found and ‘weaponized’ in game. However, all you can really do is stave off Jason. Players scramble throughout the map helping one another in hopes of evading  the dreaded killer. Get a good look through these 17 minutes of gameplay footage:

As with many other multiplayer games, communication is key. Although, in this horror story, it is the only way players makes it out alive. Simple things like calling the police, scavenging, finding the keys to a functioning vehicle, and cooperation, contribute towards the ultimate goal of survival. Yet the other interesting dynamic is, most certainly, the opportunity to abandon a.k.a sacrifice teammates for that selfish escape. Nothing horror is complete without selfishness. As a matter of fact, the game will probably be better for it. The ability to connive adds another layer of immersion on top of the natural limitations of the human body when up against an unstoppable force like Jason.

Friday 13th

Gun Media, the studio behind Friday the 13th: The Game was supposed to release this past October, but got delayed in order to build a worthwhile single-player campaign. Understandable. For now, we know what we can look forward to in regards to multiplayer. Hopefully, the single player will have players surviving Jason in its own way, perhaps with a more cinematic story.

Friday the 13th is scheduled for release in 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Although, a Friday 13th release would make sense. Players will have to be satisfied living until then. But how did this multiplayer gameplay hold up for you? Let us know in the comments section.
