Could Steve Carell be in talks to play ‘Steve’ in the upcoming Minecraft Movie?
The Minecraft Movie project may have found its Steve – literally. Variety has reported that Steve Carell, best-known for TV show The Office and movies such as 40 Year Old Virgin,  is currently in talks for a role in the live-action Minecraft movie, which is slated to hit theatres in 2019.
Unfortunately, there is little information on the talks as of yet, including just who Carell will be playing in the movie, or even if it would be a starring role. But Carell’s A-list status in the industry, as well as our own childlike hopes, give encouragement to the idea that he will play none other than “Steve,” the game’s “protagonist,” an avatar controlled by the player but usually unseen in first-person point of view.
The Minecraft Movie is apparently being written and directed by It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia creator and star Rob McElhenney. There is, as yet, scant information on the details of the upcoming movie – including how it will look, what the plot will be focused on, or what other stars will feature in it. But stay tuned right here as we will be sure to provide you with all the details as we hear them.
