Copper Is Becoming More Useful in Minecraft
Copper is about to become much more than just a decorative material in Minecraft. Mojang has announced a major update that will expand copper’s utility in the game, making it a valuable resource in the early stages of survival.

In a recent developer update, Mojang explained that copper is really abundant and often ends up unused after mining. To change that, the team is introducing a full range of copper gear, including copper armor, tools, weapons, and even copper chests. These features are now available for testing in the Bedrock Beta and Preview versions.
This marks the first time a new tier of tools and armor has been added since the Nether update. Because copper is more common than iron, Mojang believes it will serve as a helpful stepping stone for new players.
Another notable addition is a revamped version of the Copper Golem, originally pitched in the 2021 Mob Vote. Though it lost to the Allay, the golem is returning with a new function: it can move items from copper chests to either empty containers or those with matching items. This adds a smart layer of inventory management to the game.
More details can be found in Mojang’s update video. As always, the studio notes that features shown may change before the final release. You can check out the video yourself right below.
