A Fantastic Story Awaits in HorrorVale: Deadluxe Edition
Publisher Electric Airship and developer Batworks Software have announced that HorrorVale: Deadluxe Edition will launch on consoles on October 31. It will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The new edition brings enhanced visuals, additional content, and gameplay improvements to the RPG, which originally launched on Steam in 2024 and received overwhelmingly positive reviews.
HorrorVale takes players to a bizarre world where zombies live next door, reanimated monsters deliver the mail, and ghosts can show up in the bathroom. Beneath its quirky humor, the game offers a sprawling adventure full of mysteries, dangerous creatures, and plenty of puzzles.
The story spans four acts and features around 25 hours of main quests, with up to 60 hours of content for players looking to complete everything. Combat takes a modern approach to turn-based battles, featuring more than 500 mechanically unique enemies. Players can also recruit over 30 party members, each with their own abilities and personalities. There are also 60 sidequests that offer opportunities to learn more about their stories.
The console edition also introduces new battles, quality-of-life improvements, and revised artwork. Music fans can look forward to a massive 170-track original soundtrack featuring contributions from Grant Kirkhope, known for his work on Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country.
HorrorVale began in 2016 as a collaboration between two friends: one pursuing RPG development and the other creating its soundtrack. After eight years of work, their project eventually became the game players can experience today.
With its unusual humor, extensive content, and spooky turn-based combat, HorrorVale: Deadluxe Edition seems like an interesting option for RPG fans looking for something different this Halloween.
