Dethrone God in Kernel Hearts
Get ready to climb the Tower of Babel and take on God himself. Kernel Hearts is officially out today, bringing its explosive mix of action RPG combat, roguelike progression, and magical-girl transformations to PC and consoles.
Developed by Ephemera Games and published by Whitethorn Games, it is now available for $19.99 USD on Steam, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
In the game, players take on the role of members of the M.A.H.O.U. Unit, humanity’s last hope in a world drowning in ashes. Their mission is simple but incredibly dangerous: ascend the Tower of Babel, cut through hordes of angelic enemies, and ultimately overthrow God to save what remains of the world.
Combat combines attacks, spells, movement abilities, and powerful unique skills. This gives players plenty of ways to deal with the tower’s deadly inhabitants. One of the game’s standout mechanics allows players to transform into a magical girl. It temporarily breaks the Heavenly Curse and unleashes a devastating attack on nearby enemies.
Between expeditions, players can return to humanity’s final stronghold to spend their hard-earned rewards. Here, they will customize their units and prepare for the next climb. They can also interact with the tower’s inhabitants, exchange gifts, and build relationships along the way. The game can be played solo or with up to three friends through four-player online co-op.
With its wild combination of dark fantasy, roguelike action, and magical-girl powers, Kernel Hearts looks ready to deliver a seriously unconventional adventure. The Tower of Babel is waiting; are you ready to climb it?
