A Dark Secret Awaits in T.W.I.R.L.
Psychological horror fans have a new reason to keep the lights on. Developer Genie Boy Games has officially launched T.W.I.R.L., its debut horror game, on PC, Mac, and Linux via Steam. Inspired by the unsettling atmosphere and looping structure of P.T., the game takes players into the childhood home of a boy hiding a dark secret.
Every morning at 3:00 AM, something mysterious pulls the boy out of bed and sends him wandering through the moonlit halls of his home. Players must sneak out of the bedroom, move through the corridors, open the right doors, and discover what “T.W.I.R.L.” really means.
The game focuses heavily on secrecy and psychological tension. Its retro-inspired visuals give the seemingly cozy home an unsettling atmosphere, while haptic controller feedback makes every cautious step feel even more personal. As the story progresses, players follow the boy from childhood into his teenage years. They will uncover memories and the burden of a secret he desperately wants to keep hidden.
T.W.I.R.L. also features a story-driven cast voiced by first-time video game voice actors. This includes 14-year-old Alexander Roff as The Boy, Shannon Mindlin as The Girlfriend, Jerry Schultz as The Priest, and Colleen Arnold as The Mother.
The game is available now for $5.99, with a 15% launch discount. PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch versions are planned for later this year.
If you enjoy slow-burn horror and mysterious stories, T.W.I.R.L. looks like one worth watching. You can also check out the official launch trailer below to get a glimpse of the terrifying experience ahead.
