CLUTCH Gets a Major Speed Boost
Focus Entertainment is teaming up with independent developer Maverick Games in a major publishing partnership for CLUTCH, an upcoming open-world racing game aiming to bring a fresh twist to the genre.
The deal marks Focus Entertainment’s first move into open-world racing and reflects both companies’ ambitions to turn the game into a major new racing franchise. The team is currently planning to launch the title in Spring 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
CLUTCH will put players behind the wheel of a new generation of racing outsiders who live a double life. During the day, they compete at the highest level of professional motorsport, while their nights are spent in a dangerous underground racing scene filled with rivalries, reputation, and police pursuits.
The game will also put a strong emphasis on storytelling. Jamie Brittain, co-creator of the popular series Skins, is behind the original story, bringing a more character-focused and cinematic approach to the open-world driving experience.
Players can also expect extensive vehicle customization, allowing them to personalize their cars while shaping their own progression throughout the game.
Focus Entertainment says Maverick Games, led by founder and CEO Mike Brown, shares its ambition to push the racing genre forward. Brown, meanwhile, says the team created Maverick Games to build the open-world racing experience they had always wanted to play.
With a mix of professional motorsport, underground racing, and cinematic storytelling, CLUTCH certainly looks like one to keep an eye on as its 2027 release approaches.
