Maverick Games has officially announced the release of Stellar Tactics, now available for players on Steam, GOG, and Humble today. The sci-fi role-playing game brings a blend of classic design and modern depth, offering a rich experience built around exploration, strategy, and player freedom.
Designed as a tribute to traditional RPGs, Stellar Tactics places players in command of a customizable crew of mercenaries, tasked with navigating a massive, living universe. The game features more than 160,000 star systems, creating a vast playground filled with ancient civilizations, hidden locations, and lingering past conflicts.
Combat is driven by turn-based mechanics, focusing on tactical ground encounters against hostile factions and mutated threats. Players are free to shape their characters without class restrictions, supported by a progression system that includes over 240 perks. Equipment also plays a major role, with a wide variety of gear that you can enhance using Nano-Tech upgrades and modular components.
Space gameplay is equally expansive, with 40 different ships available for customization. You can design each vessel for specific roles, including exploration, trading, mining, or combat. Additional systems, such as ship boarding, asteroid mining, and a dynamic trading economy, further deepen the experience.
Alongside its main storyline, the game includes optional bounties and side missions, offering players multiple paths to explore as they carve out their journey across the galaxy.
