Frostrail Launches Closed Beta on August 31 Ahead of Steam Early Access

Your Fight for Survival Will Begin Soon in Frostrail

FakeFish and publisher Shiro Unlimited have announced that Frostrail will kick off its Closed Beta on August 31, 2026, during Steam’s PvE Survival Crafting Fest. The announcement also arrives as the game joins both Steam Train Fest and SimFest: Workers and Resources Fest. Players interested in trying the co-op survival FPS ahead of launch can now sign up for the upcoming beta.

Frostrail

Set in a frozen post-apocalyptic world where an endless blizzard has wiped out civilization, Frostrail puts players aboard a powerful locomotive that serves as both transportation and a mobile base. You can take on the journey alone or team up with up to three other players as you travel across the icy wasteland in search of valuable resources.

Every stop presents new opportunities and new dangers. Abandoned mining camps, deserted villages, and underground vaults contain food, crafting materials, and powerful weapons that can help your team survive. However, staying outside for too long comes with serious risks. The snow-covered wilderness is home to terrifying creatures called Revenants, forcing players into intense first-person combat as they race back to the safety of their train.

Survival doesn’t end once you return to the train. You will use the resources gathered during expeditions to upgrade your weapons, reinforce the locomotive, and build new defenses before you head out on the next dangerous journey.

FakeFish currently plans to launch Frostrail in Steam Early Access for Windows PC in Q4 2026. The game will support multiple languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Simplified Chinese.

With its mix of co-op survival, train management, and tense FPS action, Frostrail is shaping up to be one of the more intriguing survival games to keep an eye on later this year.
