Prepare to Go Onboard in Frostrail
Developer FakeFish and publisher Shiro Unlimited have unveiled a gripping new gameplay showcase for Frostrail during IGN Fan Fest. This new trailer offers a deeper look at the ruthless survival FPS ahead of its Early Access debut.
Set in the ruins of a once-great empire frozen solid after a disastrous pact with the Void, Frostrail throws players into a merciless, ice-choked wasteland. Your only sanctuary is a steam-powered train, shielding you from lethal sub-zero temperatures and blinding blizzards. As well as the ever-present threat of Revenants that roam the frozen wilds. To survive, players must leave the safety of their locomotive to scavenge scarce resources and rare materials from underground dungeons and abandoned settlements buried beneath snow and ice.
The game can be played solo or in online co-op, challenging players to craft weapons and gear from salvaged scraps while defending their moving base. The thunder of the train’s engine attracts deadly enemies, turning every expedition into a desperate fight for survival. Combat is intense and unforgiving, blending exploration, scavenging, and brutal firefights into a tense gameplay loop.
As players venture deeper into the wasteland, they can expand and fortify their train with new carriages, crafting stations, and defensive upgrades. Careful management of fuel and steam power is essential to withstand both monstrous threats and the relentless cold. According to Lead Designer Ez Jämsen, the team has refined every aspect of the experience, from core mechanics to art direction.
