Steel Maiden Showcases Lightning-Fast Two Button Roguelite Action in Its Official Trailer

Test Your Timing in Meet the Steel Maiden

Indie developer Very Positive has officially revealed the first trailer for Steel Maiden, a fast-paced action roguelite that strips combat down to just two buttons while delivering an intense arcade-style experience. The game is currently in development for PC via Steam, with a free demo planned ahead of its full release.

Despite its simple control scheme, Steel Maiden promises a surprisingly challenging experience built around precision and quick reflexes. Players will battle relentless waves of enemies that swarm from every direction. They will require perfectly timed attacks and evasive moves to survive. The result is a rapid-fire gameplay loop that keeps every run exciting and rewarding.

Each playthrough also offers fresh opportunities to experiment. Players can discover different weapons throughout a run and fuse them to unlock powerful new abilities. Between runs, relics can be collected to gradually customize different playstyles, ensuring that no two adventures feel the same.

Steel Maiden is the work of solo developer Cho Ki Choul, who previously served as the art director on My Little Puppy, a title nominated for Steam’s Outstanding Visual Style award. The game showcases fluid 2D sprite animations blended with retro-inspired pixel art. Hence, making every slash, dodge, and finishing blow visually satisfying.

Cho Ki Choul said, “I wanted to bottle that pure, immediate rush of fast action and pour it into a roguelite you can pick up with two fingers — built and shipped entirely on my own.”

With its stylish presentation, accessible controls, and fast-paced combat, Steel Maiden is already shaping up to be a promising indie roguelite worth keeping an eye on.
