Dark Scrolls Is Out Now and It Comes With Free Games for Early Players

Welcome to Dark Scrolls

Devolver Digital and Doinksoft have officially launched Dark Scrolls, a fast-paced fantasy action platformer that blends classic side-scrolling chaos with roguelite progression. Available now on PC and Nintendo Switch for $9.99, the game leans heavily into retro-inspired design while delivering modern responsiveness and replayability.

At its core, Dark Scrolls is all about relentless action. Players can jump in solo or team up in local and online co-op, battling through dungeon-like stages. These stages are full of enemies, secrets, and increasingly intense encounters. For a limited time, early buyers also get a 10% discount along with free copies of Gunbrella and Gato Roboto, adding even more value to the launch.

The game offers a quirky roster of nine playable characters. This ranges from traditional archetypes like warriors and mages to more unusual picks such as a saxophone-playing rat. Each character comes with distinct abilities, optional objectives, and customizable trinkets that encourage experimentation across runs.

Levels are procedurally generated, stitching together handcrafted rooms to ensure that no two runs feel the same. As players push deeper, the challenge ramps up with branching paths, tough bosses, and constant pressure to react quickly. Between runs, players can spend the collected coins at Bruce & Goose’s Shoppe to unlock upgrades, powerful attacks, and helpful allies.

With its nostalgic visuals, punchy soundtrack, and chaotic gameplay loop, Dark Scrolls feels like a love letter to old-school arcade action, just with sharper edges and more surprises.

It’s a small game with a lot of personality, and it wastes no time throwing players straight into the action. And if you want to learn more about it, then check out our official preview right here!
