Join the Action in Blast Beam Bang
Solo indie developer SWAGamesDev is bringing a fresh twist to the survivors-like formula with Blast Beam Bang, a top-down roguelite arena shooter that puts more control directly in the player’s hands. Ahead of its appearance at Steam Next Fest, the game’s demo has already gone live, offering an early look at its fast-paced and build-driven gameplay.
While clearly inspired by popular survivors-style titles, Blast Beam Bang leans heavily into active play. Instead of relying on passive attacks, players manually aim, deploy abilities, and make strategic decisions in real time. The result is a more hands-on experience where survival depends not just on movement, but on how players use each ability and weapon.
The game is structured around wave-based combat, with relentless robot enemies closing in from all sides. Between waves, players can adapt their builds by upgrading abilities and weapons, allowing for constant experimentation. Destroying upgrade cores unlocks new enhancements, encouraging players to refine their strategy as the challenge intensifies.
At launch, the demo features a solid amount of content, including 21 active abilities, 60 passive upgrades, 6 unique weapons, and a lineup of 8 enemy types, along with a boss encounter. This variety feeds into the game’s strong replay value, as no two runs feel the same.
With its focus on active abilities and flexible builds, Blast Beam Bang stands out as a promising entry in the roguelite space. It is a small project with a clear vision, and one that is easy to keep an eye on as it continues to evolve.
