Prepare to Submerge Yourself in Subnautica 2
Subnautica 2 is already making waves ahead of its Early Access debut, as developer Unknown Worlds has confirmed that the game has crossed an impressive 5 million wishlists on Steam. The milestone comes just days before its scheduled launch on May 14 for PC and Xbox Series X/S, signaling strong anticipation from players worldwide.
The studio also revealed that pre-purchase and pre-load options went live on May 11. This will allow players to prepare in advance and dive straight into the experience as soon as the game becomes available. This move is expected to ensure a smooth start for eager fans looking to explore the sequel immediately at launch.
Adding to the momentum, Unknown Worlds recently hosted its “First Dive Showcase,” a major livestream event broadcast across Twitch, YouTube, and Steam. The showcase attracted around 70,000 peak concurrent viewers and offered a deeper look at the game’s direction. Developers shared insights into new gameplay systems while unveiling features. This includes upgraded base-building, fresh underwater vehicles, and encounters with massive deep-sea creatures.
The footage also highlighted the game’s technical leap, powered by Unreal Engine 5. Players can expect improved lighting, enhanced environmental detail, and a new adaptation system. This feature will let characters evolve in response to changing underwater conditions.
“We’re thrilled by the enthusiasm for the Early Access launch,” said Ted Gill, CEO of Unknown Worlds. “We can’t wait to hear from you as we continue building this game together.”
As the sequel to the widely popular Subnautica series, Subnautica 2 introduces a new alien world. Along with expanded ecosystems, and optional co-op for up to four players. With its growing hype and strong community interest, the game is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated survival titles of the year.
