A Huge Win for Annihilated
Developer Death Kumiai and publisher Flashlight Games have crossed a major milestone with their upcoming dark RPG Annihilated, which has now surpassed 100,000 wishlists ahead of launch. The team will release the game on July 22, 2026, and growing interest suggests it is already resonating with fans of narrative-driven RPGs.
The developers will also showcase Annihilated at BitSummit PUNCH in Kyoto starting May 22. Visitors can step onto the show floor and play a hands-on demo, experiencing the game’s eerie tone and mechanics firsthand.
The story throws players into a bleak situation right away. The Hero’s party lies in ruins, and players must choose only one companion to save. Each character suffers from a unique and haunting condition. The Hero has lost their voice and can only answer “Yes” or “No.” The Mage has lost their magic while a deadly spike pierces their heart. The Warrior exists as a soul trapped inside a doll, and the Priest carries an unknown but troubling loss.
The game drives its experience through strong storytelling, offering four distinct character routes that shape the journey. It combines cute, charming visuals with dark horror elements, creating a striking contrast that deepens the atmosphere. The combat system relies on timing-based card mechanics, pushing players to act precisely and manage limited resources carefully.
With its strong concept and rising popularity, Annihilated is shaping up to be a memorable entry in the RPG space. As its release date approaches, all eyes will be on how players respond to its dark, choice-driven journey.
