A Merciless Experience Awaits in Death Howl
Death Howl is leaning even harder into its brutal identity with the arrival of its latest free update. The Rebirth Update pushes the game’s already punishing mix of soulslike combat and open-world deck-building into even harsher territory, giving players new reasons to return to the Spirit World.
The highlight of this update is Rebirth Mode, which becomes available after finishing the main story. This mode is built for players who want a true test of skill. Enemies are stronger, more aggressive, and come with new abilities that demand careful strategy. At the same time, the developer has reworked the Realmless cards, now featuring updated names, effects, and visuals that change how battles unfold. Ro’s journey also reflects this shift, as she continues to deal with the loss of her son while appearing in a new blue robe that marks this tougher phase of her story.
For those who still find this challenge manageable, Custom Mode adds another layer of control. Once unlocked, it allows players to fine-tune the experience by adjusting enemy strength, limiting card choices, adding penalties, and shaping the run to their liking.
Alongside these additions, the update also improves the base game with balance tweaks, bug fixes, and smoother overall performance.
With the Rebirth Update now live, Death Howl offers a deeper and far more demanding experience across PC, consoles, and Xbox Game Pass. It stands as a strong reason for both new and returning players to step back into its unforgiving world.
