A Huge Milestone for Frostpunk
11 bit studios is celebrating a major milestone for its Frostpunk franchise, revealing that more than 11 million players have stepped into the frozen world across the original game and its sequel. Marking the occasion, the developer has outlined what lies ahead for the series, with several announcements made during the Frostpunk Franchise Fest.
Leading the lineup is Frostpunk 2: Breach of Trust, the second DLC for the sequel, set to launch on June 23. This new scenario introduces fresh mechanics and challenges, placing players in the volatile city of New Edinburgh. Built near a destabilized volcano, the settlement faces catastrophe after excessive geothermal energy use. Players assume the role of First Citizen, where leadership is constantly judged through Votes of Trust, adding political pressure to the already intense survival gameplay. As disaster looms, every decision shapes whether the city unites or collapses under pressure. The DLC has already entered its closed playtest phase, with registrations currently open on Steam.
Alongside this, 11 bit studios confirmed Frostpunk 1886, a definitive edition of the original 2018 title, featuring expanded content and improvements. The studio also announced that the first Frostpunk will soon arrive on Nintendo Switch, offering a portable way to experience the harsh survival strategy game.
Beyond games, the Frostpunk universe is expanding into a comic series developed in collaboration with Rocketship Entertainment, written by Justin Jordan and illustrated by Ryan Benjamin.
To celebrate the 11 million milestone, a franchise-wide Steam sale is now live, accompanied by commemorative merchandise. Looking ahead, 11 bit studios hinted at even more content and future projects set in its icy world.
