Ground Zero Delivers Classic Survival Horror Thrills on PC and Consoles This April

Uncover the Truth in Ground Zero

UK publisher Kwalee and indie studio Malformation Games have officially confirmed that their retro-inspired survival horror title Ground Zero will launch on April 16, 2026. The game will arrive on PC via Steam, alongside PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

In Ground Zero, players explore the ruined city of Busan after a catastrophic meteor strike devastates the country. Set two months after the impact, the story follows an elite Korean operative and her Canadian partner as they investigate the disaster. Their search for answers soon turns into a desperate fight for survival against horrifying mutations that now roam the city’s remains.

The game leans into classic survival horror roots, blending fixed camera angles, pre-rendered backgrounds, and puzzle-solving with a modern touch. It delivers tense and rewarding combat, allowing players to shoot, use melee attacks, and counter enemies effectively. Players earn Genome Points for cleaner kills, which they can use to unlock powerful upgrades.

Exploration plays a major role, with players navigating everything from coastal areas and temples to dense urban ruins. Along the way, they will face grotesque enemies and massive bosses, each more disturbing than the last.

With additional features like unlockable outfits, alternate modes, and hidden endings, Ground Zero aims to capture the essence of retro horror while delivering a fresh, atmospheric experience for modern platforms.
