Death by Scrolling Is Coming to Consoles Next Week

Fight Your Way up in Death by Scrolling

Death By Scrolling is making its way to consoles, with its official launch set for April 16 across Xbox X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. Developed by Terrible Toybox NZ and published by MicroProse, this release marks a major step for the chaotic action roguelite, arriving alongside a substantial update that will also roll out for the PC version on the same day.

Set within the strange and ever-changing corporate nightmare of Purgatory Inc., the game throws players into a relentless vertical climb through the afterlife. The world constantly shifts upward, leaving no room to stand still, as players battle through waves of enemies, environmental hazards, and the looming threat of the Reaper, who is never far behind.

The gameplay revolves around fast decision-making and adaptability. Players can select from a variety of distinct characters, each offering unique abilities and playstyles that shape how each run unfolds. Progress depends on surviving long enough to gather gold and pay the Ferryman’s steep fee, all while navigating unpredictable encounters. Strange merchants, unusual side quests, and mid-run upgrades add layers of strategy and variety to every attempt.

Alongside the console debut, the new update introduces fresh content to the experience. This includes a brand new playable character, an additional biome to explore, and several gameplay refinements designed to improve overall flow and accessibility.

With its fast-paced structure and constantly rising tension, Death By Scrolling delivers a unique twist on the roguelite formula. Its arrival on consoles, paired with meaningful new content, makes this an ideal time for both newcomers and returning players to jump in and begin the climb.
