Challenge Your Friends in ROPES – Race Edition
Indie developer CGApps has launched the Steam Next Fest demo for ROPES – Race Edition, inviting players to jump in now and experience its fast-paced, laugh-out-loud climbing chaos. The demo offers a first look at the game’s energetic action, and you can also check out the official trailer below and get a glimpse of the rope-swinging madness ahead.
ROPES – Race Edition flips the classic platformer formula on its head: this is a platformer without platforms. Instead of hopping across ledges, players climb ever-upward using only ropes, relying on fluid 3D animations and realistic rope physics to survive. The goal is simple: climb as high as possible and claim your place on the leaderboard. The challenge? A relentless barrage of hazards, including eagles, seagulls, hot air balloons, vultures, lasers, gorillas, bees, and even flying sheep. Skill and precise timing are essential because whatever you do, don’t fall.
Players can race against a mischievous monkey for bonus rewards or compete head-to-head in intense two-player split-screen mode to see who can climb higher and faster. Dynamic conditions like burning ropes, rain, and snow add even more unpredictability to each run. A colorful roster of quirky characters brings unique climbing abilities to the ascent. Power-ups add strategic depth: grab food to restore energy, drink coffee for speed boosts, use bananas to distract monkeys and gorillas, disable lasers, and reach checkpoints before stamina runs out.
Blending retro arcade spirit with modern physics-driven gameplay, ROPES – Race Edition delivers a nostalgic yet fresh climbing adventure. For the best solo experience, single-player mode shines on a vertical monitor.
