Join the Starship Battles in Fortified Space
Developer Nightsail Game Studios has announced that its upcoming title, Fortified Space, will launch in Early Access on March 27, 2026. The nostalgic space simulation and tower defense hybrid recently gained strong attention during Steam Next Fest, where players were able to try the game ahead of release.
Inspired by classic Flash era games, Fortified Space blends fast-paced space combat with strategic base building on hostile planets. Players take on the role of a starship captain in the Unified Earth Forces, commanding an advanced corvette as they fight to reclaim enemy-occupied worlds.
Each mission begins in orbit, where players must engage in intense ship-to-ship combat and large-scale fleet battles. Pilots will dodge incoming fire, escort allied ships, and strike enemy cruisers using powerful railguns and defensive systems. Successfully clearing orbital resistance allows players to descend onto the planet’s surface.
Once on the ground, the gameplay shifts toward tower defense and base construction. Players can deploy turrets, barriers, gates, and other defensive structures to protect landing zones from relentless enemy waves. Securing the area enables marine reinforcements to arrive, while additional resources allow players to expand and strengthen their planetary fortifications.
Outside of combat, Fortified Space also features a fully explorable starship interior. Players can interact with crew members, read mission-related news updates, and gather resources through activities such as asteroid mining and hydroponic farming. The ship even includes small leisure activities, including an arcade-style shooting game.
Players interested in the upcoming hybrid strategy experience can now wishlist Fortified Space on Steam ahead of its Early Access launch.
