Make Your Choice in Choose Your Own Alternative
Indie developer F(r)ictions Ludiques has released a Steam demo for its upcoming narrative-driven title Choose Your Own Alternative, giving players an early look at its surreal, text-based exorcism adventure. In the demo, players step into the role of a close friend tasked with confronting an Inner Demon by uncovering the object responsible for a mysterious possession.

Choose Your Own Alternative blends psychological storytelling with choice-driven exploration. The experience takes place inside the Memory Palace, a shifting, symbolic space that represents the possessed friend’s psyche. Every decision reshapes this environment, gradually revealing how the Palace functions, what led to the possession, and which object may be key to resolving it. Whether players ultimately choose to perform the exorcism or not depends on the conclusions they draw from their investigation.
The Steam demo offers a compact but meaningful slice of the full game. Players can explore 10 in-game days out of a total 30, analyze 4 out of 5 important objects, and uncover fragments of the larger narrative. Two fully voiced interludes deepen the emotional impact, while an original soundtrack reinforces the unsettling atmosphere. A short cutscene also hints at events yet to come in the full release.
Each playthrough lasts roughly 10 to 15 minutes, but multiple runs are encouraged to see all available content and outcomes. Players are also invited to share feedback through an included form, helping shape the game as development continues.
