Square Enix has provided an official update on the performance of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade for Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2. While full technical specifications for the Switch 2 edition have yet to be revealed, early impressions suggest Square Enix has achieved something noteworthy. Digital Foundry’s John Linneman, known for his in-depth performance analysis, described the port as one of the most impressive demonstrations of the system so far.

“I’m gonna say right now, this is the best-looking thing I’ve seen on Switch 2. Seeing that game running at a stable 30fps, with that excellent motion blur especially, it looked fantastic. It was completely stable, it looked on par – actually I would say it looks better than the PS4 version, at a glance.”

The game originally debuted on PlayStation 4 before receiving an enhanced release on PlayStation 5 and PC. Its arrival on the Switch 2 marks the first time the acclaimed reimagining of the classic JRPG will be playable on a Nintendo console, broadening access to one of Square Enix’s most celebrated modern titles.

With a launch window set for this winter, anticipation is building to see how the full game performs on Nintendo’s next-generation hardware.
