Check Out What’s New in Ruins to Fortress
Following a successful Early Access release in December, Ruins to Fortress has just released its most significant update so far. Version 0.5.0 introduces a sweeping overhaul to the core gameplay, expanding both the world and player experience in major ways.
One of the biggest additions is the New Horizons expansion, which completely reimagines the game world. For the first time, players will explore procedurally generated maps filled with variety and unpredictability. The update brings in eight distinct biomes, ranging from icy tundras and dense forests to scorching deserts and swampy lowlands. Each biome introduces new environmental challenges and demands different survival strategies. Rather than exploring one large landmass, players now travel between multiple islands. To add more flexibility, map sizes are now customizable to better suit different playstyles.
For those who enjoy base-building, the Homestead expansion brings a more personal touch. It adds over 20 new decorative items that allow players to make their shelters feel like home. These include functional clocks, glowing lava lamps, cozy torches, a selection of houseplants, and even a working radio that adds atmosphere to any base. Players can now create spaces that feel both practical and uniquely theirs.
On the gameplay front, version 0.5.0 adds more layers of challenge and reward. New underground bunkers provide high-risk exploration zones filled with hidden dangers. Meanwhile, destructible NPC bases offer fresh player-versus-environment opportunities and valuable loot for those brave enough to take them on.
The update also brings numerous quality-of-life enhancements. A completely redesigned building system now features snap-to-grid placement and visible snap points, making construction much easier. Other upgrades include a handy minimap and a refined clan manager to improve team coordination.
With deeper exploration, richer customization, and tougher encounters, Ruins to Fortress continues to evolve into a more dynamic and engaging survival experience.
