Things Are Getting Interesting for Castle Crashers
Independent studio The Behemoth has announced that the long-awaited Castle Crashers DLC, Painter Boss Paradise, will be available on August 6, 2025. This marks the first major content update for the game in over 13 years.
Originally revealed as part of The Behemoth’s plan to bring new content to all their titles, the DLC introduces several new features. One of the most anticipated additions is custom character creation. Players can now design their own characters using an official template, which updates their in-game models with full multi-angle customization.
To help players get started, the studio has released a step-by-step video guide along with the template file. Once completed and saved to a computer, the design automatically syncs with the game, allowing players to see their creations come to life.
The DLC also brings updated artwork for all official playable characters, weapons, and the game map. In addition, players will now be able to create and equip their own custom weapons—a frequently requested feature that adds even more ways to personalize the gameplay experience.
Players can share their custom characters and weapons through the Steam Workshop or send them directly to friends, even if those friends don’t own the DLC. With this update, Castle Crashers offers a fresh and more personal experience while giving the community new tools to express their creativity.
