This comprehensive guide will walk you through all the steps to cultivate a romantic relationship with Sarah, making her your girlfriend, and sealing the union with marriage to achieve the coveted Starcrossed Achievement. Importantly, the gender of your character does not affect these relationships, and you can freely change it at “Enhance” shops located in major cities.

Earning Sarah’s Affection
- Travel alongside Sarah whenever the opportunity arises.
- Accumulate Likes from Sarah during dialogues (displayed in the top right corner). She favors “Nice” options, values diplomacy over violence, and dislikes choices that prioritize money. It’s wise to create a Quicksave before engaging in conversations. If Sarah expresses Dislike, reload the Quicksave and select alternative dialogue options.
- Avoid attacking civilians or friendly NPCs.
- Whenever Sarah requests a conversation, oblige and choose supportive responses (usually one of the top two choices).
- Whenever [FLIRT], [ROMANCE], or [COMMITMENT] options are available, select them during dialogues. These options are presented only during specific conversations.
Completing Sarah’s Relationship Mission
- After accumulating sufficient Likes and progressing through Sarah’s dialogues, she will offer the Miscellaneous Mission “In Memoriam.” Accepting this mission will elevate your relationship status to “Sarah Morgan considers you a friend.” This typically occurs after approximately 40 hours of gameplay if you consistently earn Likes. Excessive Dislikes can slow your progress.
- Complete the mission “In Memoriam,” ensuring you convince the young girl to return home with you, which Sarah appreciates.
- During a conversation with Sarah at the Waterfall at the mission’s conclusion, select the dialogue “[Romance] I’m saying I love you, Sarah. Now and forever,” rather than the “Friendship” option. This step officially makes her your girlfriend, and your relationship status will change to “Sarah Morgan is now your Ally.”
Proposing Marriage
- Continue to journey together with Sarah as your active Companion. After 30 to 90 minutes of gameplay, she will initiate another conversation. In this dialogue, choose “[COMMITMENT] I’d like to spend our future together, forever.” Sarah will readily accept your proposal for marriage.
- Note that marriage cannot occur immediately. Sarah requires some time for preparations, so keep adventuring together.
Initiating the Marriage Quest
- Maintain Sarah as your active Companion and continue your travels. After 2 to 4 hours of gameplay, Sarah will approach you for another conversation. This marks the beginning of her Marriage Quest, titled “Commitment: Sarah Morgan.”
- Progress through the quest objectives, which eventually lead to a picturesque beach in Paradiso. Here, you will officially wed Sarah. She will present you with a Marriage Gift, which can be placed in any of your Outposts.
- Your relationship status will transition to “Sarah Morgan considers you a committed partner,” solidifying your union and unlocking the Starcrossed Achievement.
Marriage Perks
While Starfield does not include “Romance Cutscenes,” there are subtle changes to your interactions with your spouse:
- Your spouse will exhibit increased happiness upon seeing you and engage in more pleasant dialogues.
- When you sleep in a bed, whether in your lodge or on your ship, Sarah will wake up beside you and share verbal comments about the enjoyable moments you both shared. You can sleep in the bed multiple times to hear all her responses, though there are no explicit scenes.
- Your spouse will frequently pick up items and offer them to you.
If you ever wish to conclude the marriage, you can do so by conversing with Sarah, discussing the relationship, and opting to end the Commitment. This will allow you to explore relationships with other Companions.
