SEGA and Level Infinite Will Not Be Participating At E3 2023
E3, in the past, was one of the most hyped events and fans from around the world would gather to enjoy announcements, trailers and demos. Unfortunately, the show took a serious hit in popularity during the pandemic and major companies began to host their own shows, for various reasons. E3 2023, as a result, will see much less participants then ever before. Today, SEGA and Level Infinite, a Tencent subsidiary, have announced that they will not be participating in this year’s show.
SEGA, in a statement to IGN, stated, “After careful consideration, we have decided not to participate in E3 2023 as an exhibitor…We look forward to sharing more information on announced and unannounced projects in the future.” Similarly, a representative of Level Infinite indicated that the company would skip the show this year.
Besides these two companies, many other major publishers have opted out of the convention this year. Some of these include Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Devolver Digital, Bandai Namco and most recently, Ubisoft. Moreover, there are rumors that other companies are intending to skip the event. Unfortunately, there are justifications for it in terms of consolidating the show and saving costs using digital platforms.
The show will take place from June 13th to 16th, 2023, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
