Too Hot for Last Gen
The Game Awards is always a night of hype, excitement, cheers, and tears. A ton of brand new game announcements, as well as more content for existing games, were made on Thursday night. This includes Horizon Forbidden West DLC.
We all knew it was coming. Actor Lance Reddick accidentally revealed that Guerrilla Games was working on something a couple of months ago. You could also tell by the pattern of the first Horizon game that there would be at least one DLC pack.
Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores was announced and shown off during the Game Awards. The trailer shows Aloy flying through the air on a machine. Lava begins rising to the surface world. We also see the iconic Hollywood sign and get destroyed by a massive machine, which Aloy will no doubt have to fight.
So, for the Horizon Forbidden West fans, this is great news, mostly. The Burning Shores DLC will be coming out in April 2023. However, PS4 players will not be able to play it. Guerrilla Games says that “To achieve this grand vision technically and creatively, we’ve made the difficult decision to focus all our efforts on making an incredible experience exclusively for the PlayStation®5 console“.
It appears that we are at the point where the PS4 and Xbox One just are no longer able to support a lot of AAA games. Not only is Burning Shores not coming to PS4, but Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty DLC will not be coming to PS4 or Xbox One.
Horizon Forbidden West is available now for PS4 and PS5. Burning Shores is expected to come out on April 19th, 2023.
