Confusion on the Field
Earlier this week, we got a look at the new covers for Madden NFL 23. They feature iconic images of the late John Madden. Fans of the NFL games are also now able to pre-order the upcoming Madden game. The special edition this year is called the All-Madden Edition.
Getting the All-Madden Edition will get you some pretty sweet perks. However, there are some things that send mixed signals.
When pre-ordering the Xbox or PlayStation versions, there is a perk that says “Dual Entitlement* Upgrade to PS5”, no matter which version you select. Surely, you do not get a PS5 copy when you order the Xbox Series X|S version, so what’s up with that? Perhaps Dual Entitlement means you can get the PS4/Xbox One version of Madden NFL 23 when you get the All-Madden Edition, which is technically only available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Again, a bit confusing.
Some of the perks are more straight forward. When you get the All-Madden Edition, you get 3 days of Early Access and exclusive Early Access Challenges, so you can play early from August 16th-18th. You also get 4,600 Madden Points, All-Madden Gear, a Madden Strategy Item, and 2 Elite Players for your Ultimate Madden Team. Each of the Elite Players are either an Offensive or Defensive player.
If you pre-order the standard edition of Madden NFL 23, you still get the All-Madden Gear, 2 Elite Players, and Madden Strategy Item. However, the standard edition appears to restrict you to whichever generation of console you purchase it on. Again, again, a bit confusing.
Madden NFL 23 is coming out on August 19th and will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
