This Violates All Sorts of Protocols
Stardate: 05-21-2022. We have intercepted a message regarding an upcoming game release. The title is designated as Star Trek Prodigy: Supernova. Along with the announcement, we have seen a trailer for the game. It appears to be a co-op adventure game with puzzle elements.
In Star Trek Prodigy: Supernova, you can play as Dal R’El or Gwyndala. They are part of the crew for the USS Protostar. The Protostar’s transporter malfunctions and the rest of the crew are scattered across several planets. It is up to Dal and Gwyn (who are not wearing regulation Starfleet uniforms, by the way!) to rescue them.
The short clips of gameplay we see show Dal and Gwyn taking on robotic enemies. They each appear to use different types of weapons. There are also light puzzle elements, which include moving power cores to unlock new paths or flipping switches.
On top of having to rescue their fellow crewmates, Dal and Gwyn also have a supernova to contend with. Hence the name. The approaching supernova threatens to wipe out the whole planetary system, with them inside it.
Star Trek Prodigy is an animated show by Nickelodeon, which is on track to release its second season. Part of the Protostar’s crew include Hologram Janeway, which is based on Kathryn Janeway, a central character from Star Trek Voyager. Kate Mulgrew plays Hologram Janeway as she did Captain Janeway.
There is no specific release date for Supernova, but it is expected to launch in October 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia.
